Born in New York, Vanessa spent much of her early years living in her father’s homeland of Paris, France. By three she was reading and communicating in both American English and French. When she was 9 years old, her parents split and she moved to Florida, USA with her mother. There she excelled in school sports and intellectual activities. Not that this should surprise anyone who has ever played a hand or two of poker with her.

Clonie was always big into sports in high school. She played on a state championship basketball team and was ranked 7th in the high jump on the track and field team.
At 15, Clonie was crowned as Miss Teen McAlester, Oklahoma. She started playing poker while living in Dallas. She used to drive down to Shreveport, Louisiana on weekends and usually won a few hundred dollars every week.
